Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure!

Have you ever wished you could dress up at Disneyland? No? Just me? I can’t be the only one! Well… you’re in luck! Normally, only guests under 14 can dress up in any sort of costume while at the parks. However, at the Halloween party, ANYONE can, and you can dress up as whatever you want! (Well.. for the most part, there are some rules).

This year, Mickey’s Halloween Party was replaced with An Oogie Boogie Bash, and it was fantastic! I can’t wait to share all of it with you! Unfortunately, there is so much to see and only so much time, so there were some things we didn’t get to experience.

If you plan to not buy a park ticket for that day, you can access the park 3 or 4 hours before the party starts, and if you’re already in the parks using a park ticket, you can head up to Blue Sky Cellar to check in for the party starting at 3.

After checking in, you can continue going on rides, seeing characters and watching shows. The party itself doesn’t start until 6. At this time, cast members will check for your wristband, guests without one will be reminded of the 6 pm park closure. Being in the park when it is technically closed is amazing! Lines for rides are so much shorter!

There were so many amazing things to experience at the Oogie Boogie Bash! I wish I had a second day, and next time I am definitely going to do so! If you didn’t get the chance to attend, see all of the fun below!

Trick Or Treat Trails

Trick or treat trails are set up throughout the park. There were a couple we didn’t make it to. One thing I found at the party was there were lines for trick or treat trails, and there werent any at Mickey’s Halloween Party. They didn’t take long to get through, but it does take up some of your time. If you’re not interested so much in the trick or treating, then go through a couple and check out some of the other experiences. There were several trails that had character experiences. We found The Mad Hatter, Maleficent and Oogie Boogie himself! When you check in they will give you a small bag for trick or treating. We usually bring our own bag, because you can walk away with a serious haul of candy!

If you don’t want your children to get a lot of candy, they have healthy alternatives. Many stations ask if you want candy or grapes and carrots. They also have Go Go Squeez, freeze dried apples and goldfish crackers.

Frightfully Fun Parade

Before the parade began, The Headless Horseman rode down, preparing us for a delightful treat. The Oogie Boogie Bash also has a parade that is only running during the Halloween party. This parade is called the Frightfully Fun Parade! A celebration of the most terrifying villains from our favourite movies. It was a super fun parade, with characters not often seen in the park. There was even a special appearance by The Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion! A definite Halloween treat, the parade did not disappoint.

Mickey’s Trick And Treat Show

Swing on by the Animation Academy to join in the Halloween Fun with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald! With the Mad Scientist host, Mickey and his friends dance, sing and tell spooky Halloween stories! This is perfect for the younger kids, and gives the parents a chance to sit down and enjoy the show. It was incredibly interactive, and a high energy show. It was definitely worth the visit!

A spell is cast over the backlot of Hollywood Land, as the Isle Of The Losts dance crew appears on stage. You’ll see Mal, Evie and Jay appear on the screen, and invite you to be part of their crew… after they see your moves! Follow along with the leader of the crews moves, and show them what you’ve got!

This is unfortunately one of the parties events we missed. Villainous! takes over the regular World Of Colour. Follow the journey of Shelley Marie, as she explores the Villainous side of our favourite Disney characters.

Redwood Creek Challenge

By day, the Redwood Creek Challenge is a series of ropes, slides and rock climbing…. but on Oogie Boogie Bash nights, the Villains take over! Villains Grove is the portal for all our villainous friends… creep through twists and turns and see what mystery awaits you…. we, unfortunately… never got to this either. We tried and the line was quite long, and we decided we would skip it, or we would miss so much more.. I really wish we had seen this! We did, however go during the day time!

Disney Photopass

You might be wondering why I’m mentioning this? Well, that’s because ALL photos taken during (and apparently before too!!) were given to us for FREE!! All photos taken on the night of the Oogie Boogie Bash were available on your Disney Account to download completely free of charge! This was huge for me! I had no idea this was included, and it was an awesome, and welcomed surprised! We had so many amazing pictures from this night!

During the party is also a good time to take advantage of riding the rides… as the wait times are next to nothing. We only did one ride, as we knew there was SO much to do, and since this party was new this year, we wanted to see it all. Though, we still missed a bit..

Did you go to the Oogie Boogie Bash?? Tell me what you thought of it. What was your favourite part? Was there anything you didn’t like? I think I need two party days next time I go!
